Highlights

The January/February issue of “Plástico industrial” is online. The article “Porous nanostructures as white pigment substitutes”, on page 16, shows that the structuring of polymers with nanobubbles is a method developed a few years ago, but in constant improvement. Currently, it allows obtaining films with a white surface appearance without the need to use pigments. See on page 26 the article “Fillers that optimize preform heating”, showing that blow molding and thermoforming are processes that require reheating of the preformed material. The addition of functional loads can accelerate this process and promote efficiency gains. Read on page 36, in the special chapter “O Plástico na Embalagem” (Plastics applications in the package industry), the news “PET industry continues to grow”, predicting that the poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) packaging industry will continue to grow in 2023, continuing the trend of the last five years, a period in which it accumulated an expansion of around 22 % by volume produced. This issue also brings the new “Thermal regulators” and the update “Mold and dies” and “Grinders” buyers’ guides.
