Highlights

The March issue of “Plástico Industrial” is online. The edition highlights the preview of 2nd edition of “Plástico Brasil - International Plastic and Rubber Exhibition”, on page 34, which will be held at the São Paulo Expo Exhibition & Convention Center (March 25th to 29th) and will have intense programming of conferences and meetings, as well as the exhibition of machines, resins, systems and services. See on page 24, the article “Treatment of recycled plastics allows odor removal”, showing that recycled polymer granules obtained from materials of post-consumer origin release highly volatile substances during their extrusion. To suit a variety of end applications, a further thermo-physical cleaning process has been developed which removes substances with high molecular weight and strong odor. Read on page 64, in the special chapter “O Plástico na Embalagem” (Plastics applications in the package industry), the report “Compostable bioplastic for disposable products”, on a German company, with branch in São Paulo, that, due the growing world demand for environmentally friendly alternatives, has concentrated research efforts to develop applications for bioplastic lines, which can be used in manufacture of everyday products, as substitutes for conventional plastics of petrochemical origin. This issue brings also the update “Corona treatment” and “Blown film extruders” buyers’ guides.
