The July/August issue of “Eletricidade Moderna” is online. The article “System operators: the future of electricity distributors”, on page 30, provides that the activities currently performed by distributors will be carried out by owners of distributed generation and energy storage. New agents specialized in each segment of distribution will emerge, performing services that were previously exclusive to those companies. See on page 54 the article “Surge protection applications in QGBT”, showing that industrial and functional buildings demand high availability of their equipment. Breakdowns and downtime caused by lightning or over voltages imply high costs or serious situations in places such as hospitals, data centers and essential services. Furthermore, on page 20, in the “EM Specialists” column, multimedia space with the article, video and audio "Standardization: care with recommended practices" by Estellito Rangel Junior, showing how not knowing the characteristics and purposes of technical documents can compromise the safety of people and installations. This issue also brings the update “Panelboards and Switchboards”, “Power and Special Transformers”, and “Prefabricated Substations” buyers’ guides.
