The July issue of “FotoVolt” is online. The article “The influence of dirt on the performance of photovoltaic systems”, on page 26, highlights a research that, comparing three real systems, raised the economic benefits of manual cleaning, also verifying the technical and financial damage of not carrying out the procedure. The results recommend cleaning the panels, especially in the dry seasons of the year. See on page 36 the article “Maximizing photovoltaic self-consumption in charging stations”, showing that, with the trend towards electrification, many buildings are installing photovoltaic generators and charging stations for electric cars. The reported work applied a reinforcement learning algorithm to optimize charging in an office building, shifting peak load to peak PV generation times. Furthermore, on page 44, the article “Far beyond reversible hydropower”, showing that the principle of gravitational storage typical of pumped hydropower is employed in systems that move solids by two European companies. With different concept solutions, they dispute the primacy of gravity. This issue brings also the update “PV inverters”.
