Highlights

The March/April issue of FotoVolt is online. The article “Urban energy communities and photovoltaic generation”, on page 14, assesses, with the new energy market rules of the European Union, whether implementation of local energy communities at the apartments blocks level is feasible and also impacts on traditional distribution operators. See on page 20 the report “Northeast will host the Intersolar Summit”, a preview of the first edition of the Intersolar Summit that, with the goal of leveraging the local use of photovoltaic energy, will be held in Fortaleza, Ceará. The high solar potential coupled with the attractive land supply of the Northeast places the region in a prominent position in the renewable energy sector. Furthermore, on page 38, the article “Low-voltage DC microgrid with PV generation and batteries”, featuring the modeling and power flow study of a low-voltage DC distribution microgrid built to test modes of operation, power conditioning devices and strategies of control, consisting of three photovoltaic generators of 500 Wp each, three banks of 4.8 kWh batteries, three load controllers forming a 24 VDC bus, and load banks. This issue brings also the update “String boxes” buyers’ guide.
