Highlights

The March issue of FotoVolt is online. The article "Flexible modules integrated into the covering membrane of sanitary landfills", on page 12, describes a field test and case study to cover a landfill with a solar geomembrane. There are great benefits in building photovoltaic systems in covered landfills, such as the revitalization of vacant areas with low land costs. See on page 20 the article “Efficiency of PV generators with DC direct coupling”, showing solutions available for the increasing inefficiency of DC sources and drains interconnected on the AC side. Furthermore, on page 26, the article “The lens effect and its consequences on the operation of PV plants”; in the case analysed, the increase in global horizontal irradiance caused by reflection of direct irradiance in the clouds (lens effect) increased the incident irradiance on the PV modules and the current injected into the electrical system, so that the PV plant was turned off by overcurrent. This issue brings also the new “Pyranometers” buyers’ guide.
