Highlights

The new issue of Hydro magazine is online. The special coverage” Compact treatment stations”, on page 32, shows that this practical, quick and less costly solution to interconnect systems far from existing collector trunks or to be used in emergency projects, is a technology that is starting to become more common and now has a good range of products. See on page 22 the article “Copper tubes with soldered connections vs. carbon steel with mechanical coupling”, showing that, over the years, the copper pipes of automatic showers can present leaks due to welding failures in seams and connections. Carbon steel tubes with grooved mechanical coupling do not require skilled labor in assembly. Furthermore, on page 46, the article “Geomembranes HDPE as floating cover for odor containment”, presenting a real case study of a fertilizer industry in São Paulo countryside. The geomembrane solved the problem of bad odor and eliminated the risk of fertilizer percolation in underground and rainwater entering the reservoirs. This issue brings also the update “Water storage tanks” and “Water and wastewater treatment plants” buyers’ guides, and “Hydraulic products and equipment distributors” directory.
