Arc Fault Detection Devices (AFDDs)

AFDDs detect dangerous electrical arcs, such as those caused by poor contact, and cut off the power supply to prevent fires. They monitor current and voltage in a circuit, identifying waveform patterns that indicate an arc. When a hazardous arc is detected, the device trips the breaker, interrupting the current and preventing the buildup of heat that could ignite a fire.
