The new issue of “Hydro” magazine is online. The special coverage “Sanitation sector milestone 2025: balance and perspectives”, on page 16, shows that investment in the sanitation sector was a record in 2023, at almost R$29 billion, which represents a real increase (above inflation) of 22.9% compared to the previous year. For 2025, the estimate is that at least 25 bidding processes will be carried out, benefiting 848 municipalities and generating almost R$70 billion. Read on page 32 the article “Digital twins in building systems”, which identifies new technologies that can be applied as innovation in the construction industry, especially in building systems. Digital twins are virtual copies of real-world assets or buildings, used as a platform for management and decision-making. Furthermore, on page 42, the article “Integrating septic tank users into the public sewage system”, a work that shows how an e-Gov digital platform can facilitate the integration of these users into public systems. Meeting the goals of universal sanitation in Brazil is a challenge that must include rural and peripheral populations, especially septic tank users.
