The December issue of “Hydro” is online. The highlight of the edition goes to the special coverage “Flow retention valves”, on page 12, showing that as pressure changes in water can cause great damage to piping, check valves help protect the hydraulic system from water backwash, whether in a public grid or building. See on page 18 the article “Water treatment plants sludge composting”, presenting the studies carried out at ETA Capim Fino in Piracicaba, country side in Sao Paulo State, aiming to transform the sludge into fertilizer by means of composting. The results were positive for germination and plant growth. Read on page 24 the article “Reverse electrodialysis and reverse osmosis in the petrochemical industry”, evaluating the use of a hybrid process of reverse electrodialysis and reverse osmosis in the treatment of effluents from a petrochemical industry, aiming to obtain a treated effluent that meets the quality standards for reuse in towers cooling. This issue brings also the update “Water and wastewater treatment plants” buyers’ guide.
