Highlights

The May issue of FotoVolt is online. The special coverage “Covid-19: the current impacts and the near future of the sector”, on page 42´, shows a snapshot of the moment of the photovoltaic solar sector facing the coronavirus, with the retraction of the demand for distributed systems, logistical problems in the works of centralized plants, the most vulnerable and the most resilient profiles, the actions and lines of financing created to help companies, expert recommendations and post-pandemic perspectives. See on page 32 the article “Performance evaluation of energy storage systems”, showing an independent study of solar photovoltaic energy storage systems, conducted by the University of Applied Sciences (HTW) in Berlin, which questions the criteria for selecting the capacity of batteries, and highlights system losses. Furthermore, on page 48, the article “PV solar energy cooperatives: Brazilian versus European reality”, which exposes the context of shared solar cooperatives in Brazil, discussing the barriers to their further development, and presents the history of this type of generation distributed in European countries, contributing to the debate on the role of such organizations in the energy transition. This issue brings also the new “E-Houses”, “PV products Brazilian wholesalers” and “Measuring instruments for photovoltaic plants” buyers’ guides.
