The July issue of “FotoVolt” is online. The article “Different modules performance in distinct climates in Brazil”, on page 20, reports a field study that compares the performance of six photovoltaic module technologies in two different climatic conditions, in Rio Grande do Sul and Mato Grosso. The results show a greater generation of energy in the region of greater irradiation, but also that the relative advantages of the technologies depend on the sensitivity to temperature. See on page 37 the article “New scalable, high-efficiency and low-cost battery topology”, presenting a new approach, based on modular power electronics, in which the central inverter is omitted and each battery module works according to the mains voltage and power requirements, resulting in a flexible, high efficiency and safety system and increased capacity. Furthermore, on page 58, the article “Storage system and PV generation in an energy cell”, presenting the results of German project Hybrid-Optimal, of hybrid storage in an energy cell with high photovoltaic generation. Different possibilities for using PV generation and storage are compared, such as selling energy in the short-term market or feed-in compensation, self-consumption and participation in the control reserve market. This issue brings also the update “PV inverters”, “Cables and connectors for PV arrays” and "Solar carports" buyers’ guides.
