Highlights

The August issue of “FotoVolt” is online. The article “Photovoltaic generation system in a football stadium”, on page 22, evaluates the feasibility of a photovoltaic generating plant to cover the stands of a stadium. The method included collection of historical consumption data, analysis of available areas, dimensioning of the system and economic analysis. See on page 36 the article “Protection against lightning and surges in photovoltaic generators”, which offers an analysis based on German practices, and provides comparisons with Brazilian standardization. The normative requirements for functional equipotentialization, grounding and protection of PV generators against lightning and surges often give rise to divergent interpretations. Furthermore, on page 46, the article “Use of battery systems in a connected PV plant”, reporting a study that sought to answer whether the increase in photovoltaic generation connected to the distribution networks can affect the reliability, protection and operation of these systems. Is battery energy storage the solution? This issue brings also the update “Photovoltaic modules” and “PV power monitoring systems” buyers’ guides.
