This event was specially conceived regarding the technical and management needs from the Brazilian plastics processors, as well as the whole productive chain involved with this industry. Its main point is showing the most recent technological achievements about plastics materials, which can efficiently help processors and components/mold designers to solve their daily problems. |
|
| The design, materials selection and production of plastic components show an increasingly accelerated evolution, as global competition requires continuously new design solutions, high reliability manufacturing processes and higher and higher product quality levels, but without increasing costs. Some examples of this evolution are the development of new resins; the advent of components with a rigid body and soft touch overmolded surfaces; the substitution of groups of metallic parts by only one multifunctional plastic component; the continuous – and already traditional – replacement of metallic and ceramic materials by plastics; and so on. | |
| However, the resistance to the advance of plastic materials is becoming fiercer in some market fields. Light alloys of magnesium, thixocasting and new marketing approaches of metallic alloys are some examples of such reaction. And, naturally, there are even disputes between the plastics family, as the tough polemic concerning the use of plasticized PVC. | |
